Flinders University Library is supporting new publication models in the form of memberships that provide researchers with discounts on article processing charges (APCs).
Biochemical Society (No APC fee)
Flinders has signed a transformational agreement (Publish and Read) with the Biochemical Society which allows you to publish in 7 Journals openly (CC-BY) with no transactional APCs or other fees. To access this deal, use your Flinders affiliation and email on your article by-line. Journals include research journals: Biochemical Journal, Bioscience Reports, Clinical Science, Neuronal Signaling. Review journals: Biochemical Society Transactions, Emerging Topics in Life Sciences and Essays in Biochemistry.
BioMed Central
The Library is a BMC Supporter Member which gives a 15% discount on the article-processing charges of all research articles accepted for publication in journals published by BioMed Central and SpringerOpen. More Information.
MDPI Journals
The Library is a member of the MDPI Institutional Open Access Program which gives authors a 10% discount on article processing charges. More information
Microbiology Society (No APC fee)
Flinders has signed a transformational agreement (Read and Publish) with the Microbiology Society which allows you to publish in 6 Journals openly (CC-BY) with no transactional APCs or other fees. The Journals include: Microbiology, Journal of General Virology, Journal of Medical Microbiology, Microbial Genomics, International Journal of Systematic and Evolutionary Microbiology, Access Microbiology, and JMM Case Reports. SpringerOpen
SpringerOpen includes Springer’s portfolio of peer-reviewed fully open access journals, and books, across all areas of science. Flinders University authors are entitled to a 15% discount on the journal article processing charge and a 15% discount on the book publication fee. More information
Royal Society of Chemistry (Ceased)
Unfortunately, the Royal Society of Chemistry ceased their open access Gold for Gold scheme in 2018. This scheme had previously enabled Flinders researchers to publish in an RSC journal free of charge, as a Gold Open Access article, without paying the normal Article Processing Charge.
