Syncing your Library
Work on more than one device? Endnote allows you to seamlessly access and update your reference library from any machine that you have Endnote installed. You can synchronise not just your references but also their file attachments.
Endnote Online is the web-based version of Endnote. When you sync your library, any changes made in either Endnote and Endnote Online are synchronised so both libraries contain an exact match.
If you don't already have an Endnote Online account, you first need to sign up. If you do have an Endnote Online account, you just need to login.
In Endnote, open the Edit menu and click preferences.
Go to the Sync section and click on the Enable Sync button.
If you have an Endnote Online account, enter your email address and password and click OK. You will be logged in and you can then Sync your libraries.
If you need to sign up for Endnote Online, click the Sign Up button.
Endnote Online will open in a new window. Enter your email address and follow the instructions to sign up.
To sync your library, simply click on the Sync button on the toolbar.
You can check the status of the sync process in the status bar at the bottom of the Endnote window.
You can also set Endnote up to sync automatically. From the Sync preferences screen, make sure the Sync Automatically checkbox is selected.
Endnote will also sync when you close your library and/or Endnote itself.
